Blackpool (Part 1)

*late update*

After-exams vacation - Blackpool! wohooo. We went there right after our last paper. So what's so nice about there? I think the main thing which attracted us was the Blackpool Pleasure Beach aka theme park. But of course we spent about 3 days over there tak kan just sit roller coaster over and over again right, and I'm satisfied cause we went to some nice places ;)

Blackpool basically is a family entertainment venue, where they hav a lot of amusement centre with all those machine thingy (if you know what I mean), quite a lot of museum meant for kids like the Doctor-who museum (I don't know what is this, must be some kind of tele series of those scientist jerk which impressed the kids, ha ha ha). And well as you can see, Blackpool is a place located along the seaside, which means there's beach!

We visited Blackpool Tower, the tallest building in Blackpool. I don't know initially what's the tower meant for but now they turned it into a leisure hang out place for families. They have quite a number of so-called 'attractions' in it.

plenty of slot machines which require only 10p or 20p (which means the jackpot would be only few pounds)

and their so-called highlight of the tour (of the tower) was the worst circus I've ever seen in my life

A disappointing end of tour of the tower I guess. But at least it's something, cause I don't think you can do much in Blackpool besides just chill and relax.

Kar Teng's msn kind of got infected by those worm/virus and started sending everyone messages that say she lost 15 pounds through Acai Berry diet pills. Her mom has msn.

Mom : Eh it really works a? And you lost so much weight?

KT : Huh? That one is virus la.. Not I send one. If you pressed on it quickly go scan your computer or something..

Mom : Ohh.. ok ok..

Mom : So anyway those pills really work?

We didn't intend to lie about blogging last night. Just caught with watching Britains Got Talent. Anyway we went to a East Asian Restaurant that I thought was quite good but Kar Teng thinks does not have enough 'Ommph' .. Cause she said it is by `kuai lou`..

The Menu

A shelves with a array of soy sauce, chili sauce, oyster sauce etc. I really don't get the point of this though. Some of the stuff here are not even use for cooking.

What I had. Pha Xao Bo, a Vietnamese dish. Thought the sesame really gave it a nice taste.

Khao Pad. Kar Teng's thai fried rice.

East Asia map was our 'alas' on the table (I fucking suddenly can't remember the word in English)

Ok I know this is really a stagnant post. It has a flat line from the start to the end. But just to let people know we are alive and .. look at the countdown timer on top and you'll know when we will be back in Malaysia.

Culture Mix Spaghetti

Woohooo... my turn to blog about recipe. Ok lah, don't complain like why we only cook pasta, every recipe also about pasta. No choice, exam is in a week time, don't have time to do something time-consuming (but got time to blog wtf, hahaha)

Culture Mix Spaghetti

Why I named this dish as this (see above lah)? Try to look at the ingredients and seasoning below:

Ingredients
5 Closed cups of mushroom
1 Tomato (cut whatever shape, hahahaha)
1 Carrot (cut into small cubes)
1 Slice of Chincken Breast (cut into small pieces)
4 Cloves of garlic
1 Can of tomato puree (small)
2 Servings of spagetti

Nothing special right? Wait...

Seasoning
Salt to taste
Sugar to taste
Worchester Sauce to taste
Pepper to tatse
Thai chili sauce to taste
[hahahahahahahaha, I'm not a good chef, you put the seasoning according to own preference lah]
And
.
.
.
.
Soy sauce to taste (so now see what I meant by culture mix? hahaha)

Steps
1. Fry the garlic, not till golden brown cause you need to fry the chicken breast a bit longer after the garlic, afraid that the garlic willl get burnt =P
2. Fry the chicken breast like I've mentioned till it's cooked (agak agak lah).
3. Add carrots, mushroom and tomatoes.
4. Add the tomato puree and all the seasoning (you can add one by one, or you can add all at one go. oh sorry, you can just add one by one cause you got only a pair of hands, wtf hahahahaha).
5. Add some water to dilute the tomato puree.

6.
7. Add cooked spaghetti. Mix.
8. Sprinkle some black pepper on top.
9. Ta-da ;)

Try it try it try it =P William said nice. But anyway, the soy sauce didn't make much difference to the whole thing, hahahahaha.

3 Steps Sardine Pasta

1 Small Can Sardine in Tomato Sauce
1/2 Can Cream of Tomato Soup (can be replace with ketchup and cream/milk maybe?)
Spaghetti (Duhh...)
2 Sticks of celery
Bit of olive oil
Salt, pepper and other seasoning to taste

Cooking is an art, hence my imprecise recipe which also implies most of the stuff above is replaceable or optional. Well except the pasta and sardine.

1) Cook the pasta together with celery (can be added later raw too)
2) Drain it
3) Add everything else with the spaghetti and stir it !

Sounds too simple? Again, it is an art.. So everything else is up to you.

Be daring, be creative, be brave and the at the end of the day your plate will look just like mine below..

No but seriously, try this.. It is damn nice.

P/S : Garlic bread at the side is bought part-baked from hypermarket (3 baguettes for £1). Only need to put it in oven for 15 mins.

When you hear the word summer, what is the first thing that comes to your mind?

Well but if you're in Malaysia and you 'suffer' from summer all year long, you perhaps won't think of anything. You might just think of an air-con.

Anyway for both of us.. This is what awaits us this summer..

For those who are not too familiar with this firms, they are professional services firm or like most of the people like to call them; audit firm. (FYI: They do do other things besides audit)

And as much as KPMG sounds like a local Malaysia company's name, it is isn't. It is the name of the four partners that form it namely; Klynveld, Peat, Marwick, Goerdeler.

And PwC is not the Jabatan Bekalan Air that is pricey and owned by cooper. There is a bit of long history to it but again the name derieves from a series of merger.

So who is doing what in where? .. Hmm, we'll leave that for the next post.

You see she describe someone as 'calm all the time'. I assume you all know who it is between us. I absolutely drive her mad when she tries to jay walk (on her own =P) then a car is coming towards her.

Dublin - Day 4

Hmm, why am I the one who blog about this? Very easy. Cause me this lazy bug don't want to study while William tengah paint shit on the wall (if only you know what I mean).

Day 4! Woohooo. The last day! I'm so excited. Cause if I blog this then you will be able to see a lot a lot a lot of photos. I really mean it. A Lot ;)

We've booked for a tour to Wicklow Mountain on the 1st day we arrived in Dublin. We thought we were about to be late to reach the destination where the tour guide was suppose to meet us (cause we mis-calculated the time for breakfast and transport and everything), and we ran like as if we were from the rambutan cape (translate yourself) on a busy street! With the luggages with us (we will be leaving to the airport straight away after the tour)! How humiliating.

Okay, start off! (chu fa! chut fat! bertolak!) We were so excited, the scenery around us was like something we will see in photos or travel brouchers. Exactly the same. I no bluff you one (omg I sound like I'm talking to my Cambodian maid where she only understand 'I no eat', 'I no go out' this kind of english).

Oh anyway, I found that Irish are more lively, friendlier and cheerful. I told William they even like colourful things cause I saw their doors were painted in different kind of bright colours. William was like agreed with me, cause the English here (in England I mean) are really dull. Not only until the tour guide told us why they painted their doors in different colours. You know why?

Cause in the old days they didn't have any house number plates, that's why they painted the house doors in different colour so that one can recognize his house and it's also made the postman's job easier. Make sense? I wonder what is someone is colourblind. Hmmm

First stop. Er, I don't know what area is this. It's on the way to the mountain and it's a seaside with nice view. Haha, poor memory.

Dublin - Day 3

Well well, I don't want to make things short cause I like details, blekkk, hahaha

On our 3rd day morning, we went to this spot.

Basically it's a prison since 1787 (now it has turned into a museum) and the story which made this prison interesting is that many leaders of Irish Rebellion were imprisoned here and some were executed in the jail.

I can't tell you much about the history cause I didn't do any research on it and I kind of forgotten what the tour guide said, haha. The only thing I remembered is during starvation, the Irish rather get caught and stay in the jail cause food and shelter were provided. Pitiful.

After we managed to run out from the jail, we got no where to go, our family and friends were not here =((((((( so we just wandering around like siao kia siao po, hahahaha

We searched online, a lot of people review about this restaurant. And each time we passed by the restaurant sure full house one. So I told William, cannot, we must try this!

What? Go there and eat omelet? T__T I don't know wor, the review says it's famous for it's omelet, so I mar try lo. It tasted good lah, but you know, just omelet, nothing special.

We came here for this tau, on top of every single table in this restaurant also got this one. So how's the taste? Well, when the whites say it's spicy you need to tell yourself they are just lying. Haha, not exactly lying but really, they cant produce the spicy tatse we usually eat back home one. Anyway, this chicken wing tasted not bad, at least it has a hint of spiciness and it's super sour! Like those sourness you tasted in tomyam. Not bad not bad.

I remembered that evening was a very good day. There was shiny sunshine with comfortable temperature. That's why we decided to get down from the tram to walk around while on our way back to the hotel ;)

Dublin - Day 2

Lemme do a shorter way of blogging about a trip. ;)

We went to Guinness Brewery, it was a self-guided tour. Walk around, we see the stuff they use to produce it (barley, water, hops, yeast). See how they make the cask using ancient tools (which was fucking difficult, probably can only make two in a day). And end of tour, you get a free drink at the Bar. Not much choice there, Soft drinks or a pint of Guinness). Picture summary below :

Interesting fact : Arthur Guinness sign a 9000 year lease for about 100 pounds a year to use this piece of land that they are currently brewing on. 9000 ! ! Yes with 4 Zeros. Guinness is only at their 250th Anniversary.

Next we went to a castle, which both of us agree doesn't even look like one. Comparing it to Forbidden City, this is like maybe the 1% of it's size. But the architecture is also great and many interesting facts about it. Visiting Ireland is like visiting Malaysia History, everywhere you go the guides tell you about rebels that tried to fight the British. Sounds like our Sejarah? Of course they are independent now la.

Dublin - Day 1

Well if you are not sure, Dublin is the capital of Ireland. And well again if you are not familiar, only Northern Ireland belongs to United Kingdom and the not-northern part (I'm not sure whether people call it Southern Ireland or not, probably not) is an independent country. And here we go, me and William went to Dublin on the last few days of March ;)

I'm sure you all come across this thing before. You know the transparent plastic bag which you used to put your liquid stuff eg. lotion, shampoo, toothpaste if you are trying to bring them up into the plane? Aha, what I'm trying to tell you here is at Manchester Airport, you actually need to buy the plastic bag while other airports they will give it out for free. Weird.

The flight took about 40 minutes to arrive (initially my mum thought we used a whole day to travel ==" but I couldn't blame her lah, you know if you are more towards chinese educated you wouldn't know the geography of Europe countries. I admit I didn't even know where's Manchester located until I reached here, blekk)

The hotel we checked in looked professional isn't it? True, it's located in a business park (30-40 minutes tram from the city. I know it sounds stupid, I felt so too after the trip ended), I think mostly businessmen will stay here and due to this factor we had free wi-fi access in the hotel, teehee.

Argh, but it didin't give me a good impression. 1st thing, when we wanted to make a cup of tea then only we realised there was no teaspoon provided. Fine, this is not a big deal. 2nd thing, when my body wanted to release excess water and when I opened the toilet bowl cover, wtf someone somehow laosai before that and didn't flush it away!!!! Soooo darn disgustinggggg!!!! (don't try to ask me where's the photo of that I can't even bother to look at it and I kept jumping and shouting and complaining for sure!). Wei, hotel ler, your house keeping fella didn't clean the toilet bowl one is it? Or the one who laosai-ed was actually the house keeper? STILL! grrhhhh. And 3rd thing, I found the carpet got some blood stain (at that time I actually think it was some ghost thingy, blek). Irritating.

Anyway, forget about that now cause I'm going to show you photos of food (eewwww). We went to the city for dinner. Did some research before our trip and so we landed at this "The Best Fish and Chips" in Dublin - Leo Burdock.

You ask me was it superb? I say so-so only (this was my first try, I tried it the second time on day 2, hahaha, stay tune). Of course the outer part of the fish was crispy and it was aromatic, it's just that maybe it didn't taste that strong so it didn't earns my thumbs up. The chips was okay, you know, okay that type loh. Eventually many famous people tried it before. The names I knew were Jackie Chan and U2. Others I tak tau.

We walked around Temple Bar after dinner, the popular tourists' attraction. Oh well, it's not really an attraction, nothing special there excpet it has alot of bars and clubs and restaurants (you know Irish likes to drink, alot). Of course if you have no idea where to take your meal, maybe you just have to walk around here and I'm sure you can find one to dine in.

I will have more photos of Temple Bar on other days since I went there like 3 times where I spent 4 days 3 nights in Dublin wtf. Irish they like to drink, and they brew alot of beer or whatever it calls (cause I don't know how to differentiate what beer lah what lager lah what ale lah) also. William tried to taste some local beer or whatever it calls and it turned out tasted awful, hahaha. His exact words were "it makes me wanna puke".

Okay, maybe it was just his luck to taste the not-so-nice beer (or duh). Irish brew nice erm... I don't know how to categorize them. Alchocol maybe? ==" Guinness you know? Guinness stout (this one I know, haha)! You know it's brewery is in Dublin right? Har you don't know?! (hahahaha, just being sarcastic, you think I know before I visit here meh? blek) Will tell you more about Guinness in the next post.

Easter

I just found out the existence of Easter last year when I was playing Facebook's fluff, searching for hidden eggs. I've never knew what day is that until the minute before I type this entry, I went to search for it (so basically last year I just searched for the eggs without knowing why am I searching for, how stupid).

"Easter is the most important religious feast in the Christian liturgical year Christians believe that Jesus was resurrected from the dead three days after his crucifixion, and celebrate this resurrection on Easter Day or Easter Sunday (also Resurrection Day or Resurrection Sunday), two days after Good Friday. Oh, so it's a religion thingy. But why are people selling chocolate eggs and mallows all over the places?

Since its origins, it has been a time of celebration and feasting and many Traditional Easter games and customs developed, such as Egg rolling, Egg tapping, Pace egging and Egg decorating. Oh, like that is it. But why Facebook created the game to ask us to search for hidden eggs?

Oh, I see I see. This year I didn't play Facebook's Eatser game though (I don't know if there's any, cause I abandon Fluff for a long long time already, probably my tofu (fluff) is dead now), I went to buy some Easter stuff instead.

The other thing I bought was this.

Guess what's inside?

Yeap, a milk chocolate egg and two milk chocolate crispy bars (I bought this cause it's cheap and it's The Simpsons, William likes The Simpsons. But well, the main reason is that it was cheaper than any other eggs, blek).

So hooray, I don't need to look for those illusory eggs now cause I have a real eat-able Easter egg infront of me! ;)

A year and a month

Greetings from Manchester everyone ;)

Like William has mentioned, this blog has been something that we had talked about for a long time, and it finally came to realize on this memorable day!

And don't worry, http://karteng.spaces.live.com and http://www.blogger.com/www.xanga.com/crazeguy will be still running as usual (I'm sure for mine I don't know about his, blek), just to give you guys more updates from us ;)

We planned to eat out yesterday night but well, money constrain made us cooked at home. I wouldn't complain much since I know money is not something that we have extra (I would rather use it for travel or buy another pair of shoes), muahahaha

Not too bad what, right? you go outside and eat also will get almost the same food like this (don't tell me you know I'm comforting myself). Well well, some parts of the chicken weren't really cooked, hahaha

Then we did some dating act which I think most of the Malaysian will do - movie (tell you why I say this later). And before the movie started we went to the amusement centre located just beside the cinema.

William: Excuse me, there's nothing to do with the photos, it's the person in it =P
KarTeng: Fine.

So after 2 games, we went to the cinema at exactly our movie time. You'll sure guess in the UK everything will starts on time right (since they are first world country and the people are suppose to be more civilized). Bullshit lah I tell you, the advertisements played for more than half hour before the movie get started.

The issue I wanna address here is that I think British won't take watching movies as a kind of dating style. We watched Marley and Me at 11.20pm. Suppose if you watch late night movie in KL there will still be plenty of people right? In addition that the movie is Marley and Me, not some kind of lousy movie. Well, the screen we watched there were only 10 of us. 10 people in a cinema watching Marley and Me on a Saturday night wei! It's even lesser than when I watched Hati Malaya in KL.

In China I understand lah, since their movie ticket is darn expensive and they can just easily download or buy pirated DVD to watch at home. But in UK movie ticket is just 6 pounds, dollar to dollar it's consider quite reasonable. Why would people want to spend 6 pounds for liquor but not for movie?
William: Told you they have different value loh.
KarTeng: I like ah, blek

Sorry for this post, I know it's kind of lame. I just blog for the sake of blogging, blek. Hahahaha

The Start

It's been awhile that we had a thought of setting up our own blog. We gave it some thought, even thought about the name and actually consider naming it as kajanggirlampangboy (inspired from http://kampungboycitygal.com). Or maybe sataygirl and yongtaufooboy. I mean even the local council of Kajang uses a slogan "Bandar Sate Terunggul"

So anyway back to this blog, why start today? ;) Well today is a Sunday, first day of the week. Today is also 22nd. (22nd February 08 was when our lil story started) No we're not the couple that goes crazy every 22nd of the month but it bears some significance to us. So a slightly nicer meal or we usually go out on a date.

Lastly, what is this going to be about? KarTeng: Food !!

Ignore her. =P This is going to be about everything, not only our sappy love story or manchester or anything. Expect to see 'what I think of the world' to 'why uk food sucks'. KarTeng: and Food !

Oh and sometimes on the 22nd, I do get KarTeng flowers. Could be just one or a few. Or a real rose plant (my real intention was that it stays alive so that I would never need to get her any more)

This picture was taken when she just got it. It looks more or less the same right now but just imagine it without the nice lil red roses. Just thorns and leaves left. (KarTeng is going to kill me)
